          Berkeley, CA _ A unique look at Gettysburg, combining today’s rich landscapes with the Pennsylvania town’s Civil War history, is being released by Regent Press.

“This book is all about emotions,” said renowned artist Karl J. Kuerner. “The strong feelings emanating from the hallowed ground of Gettysburg is the foundation of this book. Few places exist in the world emit the sensitive energy that is found at Gettysburg.”

Kuerner created 20 original paintings of Gettysburg combining today’s peaceful existence with the history of the pivotal battle of the American Civil War. Kuerner is the only artist to be personally tutored by the two members of the famous Wyeth family of artists, Andrew and Carolyn Wyeth, the children of world class artist and book illustrator N. C. Wyeth.

Kuerner enlisted award-winning reporter and author Bruce E. Mowday to write essays combining the history of the battle that preserved the United States with the painter’s impressions of Gettysburg today and in 1863. Mowday has authored more than 30 books, including three other books on the Civil War and two centered on Gettysburg, Pickett’s Charge: The Untold Story and J. Howard Wert’s Gettysburg.

            WEST CHESTER _ Author Bruce Mowday is scheduled to be interviewed by Pennsylvania Cable Network on his new book, Stealing Wyeth. 

          “I’m honored that PCN has selected my book to be featured on its excellent Pennsylvania Authors show,” Mowday said. “We’re taping the show later this month and I’m told the show is scheduled for airing in December. Stealing Wyeth is a perfect book to feature since PCN previously did a show on my other true crime book, Jailing the Johnston Gang. The two books are connected.”

Stealing Wyeth was released in August by Barricade Books and already is in its third printing. The book details the theft of 15 paintings from the Chadds Ford estate of famed artist Andrew Wyeth and the law enforcement efforts to recover those paintings.

On Saturday, Mowday will take part in Norwalk Library’s 3^rd annual Indie Author Day. The event at 1 Belden Avenue, Norwalk, CT., will take place from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

On October 14 Mowday will speak on his book Pickett’s Charge: The Untold Story at the Harford County, Maryland library. The book on the battle of Gettysburg is one of three books he has written on the Civil War.

Mowday will give two talks at Nottingham Park, Oxford, on Sunday, October 20. He’ll talk about Mason and Dixon and the county’s Stargazer Stone at 1:00 p.m. and Jailing the Johnston Gang at 2:00 p.m.

           NORWALK _ Norwalk Library’s 3^rd annual Indie Author on Saturday, October 12 will include Norwalk’s Bruce Mowday, author of 20 published books.

“I’m looking forward to getting a chance to meet those who love reading and writing books in the Norwalk area,” Mowday said. “I’ve only been in the area a few months and I’ve already met many fine people. I enjoyed my talk on Stealing Wyeth at the library in August. The library is a great asset to the public.”

The event at 1 Belden Avenue will take place from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. More than 60 writers and publishing professionals took part in last year’s event.

“During the day, I’d be more than glad to talk about my publishing career and my Selling Your Book, one of my publishers asked me to author the book to help increase sales,” Mowday said.

Author Bruce E. Mowday has events scheduled

in Chadds Ford, Phoenixville and West Chester

New book Stealing Wyeth featured plus talk in Coatesville schools

 Author Bruce Mowday has scheduled five events in Chester County this month, including three talks in connection with his new book, Stealing Wyeth.

“My new book has received great interest,” Mowday said. “So much attention that the first printing was sold out at the time of the official release in August. Publisher Barricade Books has authorized a second printing, to be delivered this week.”

After a private event at the Brandywine River Museum, Chadds Ford, on Friday, September 13, Mowday will be signing books on Sunday, September 15 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Chadds Ford Days at the Chadds Ford Historical Society.

Chadds Ford Days is held on the battlefield of the Revolutionary War engagement at Brandywine. Mowday will have his book September 11, 1777: Washington’s Defeat at Brandywine Dooms Philadelphia – the first in-depth book on the battle – available for purchase.

On Monday, September 16, Mowday will talk before several classes of students at Coatesville Intermediate High School before giving a talk on Stealing Wyeth at 7:00 p.m. at Phoenixville Library.

The Chester County Historical Society, West Chester, is hosting a talk by Mowday on Stealing Wyeth on Tuesday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m.

The theft of 15 paintings, worth millions of dollars, from the estate of world famous artist Andrew Wyeth is the subject of a true crime book, Stealing Wyeth. The book has connections to Mowday’s first true crime book, Jailing the Johnston Gang: Bringing Serial Murderers to Justice, also published by Barricade Books. “The Johnston book is now being reprinted,” Mowday noted. Both hard-bound editions of the Johnston book have sold out as has numerous reprinting of the paperback version.

“Stealing Wyeth is a drama on several levels, a page-turning true crime story,” according to former Assistant U. S. Attorney Walter ‘Terry’ Batty, who prosecuted the case. Former FBI agent David Richter added, “Stealing Wyeth proves it doesn’t get any better for the public when law enforcement agencies work together.”

Mowday said, “Andrew and Jamie Wyeth are two of the best-known American painters of all time. I’m not surprised that thieves and forgers have targeted their wonderful artistic creations over the years. I’m also not surprised that readers, those who know the Wyeth paintings and those who enjoy true crime books, are interested in the book.”

Thieves, including master cat burglar William Porter who admitted committing 1,500 crimes, broke into the Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania estate of Andrew Wyeth in the hopes of stealing a Wyeth painting for their retirement fund. The thieves took 15 paintings, seven by Andrew Wyeth, six by Jamie Wyeth and two other artists.

The book details the journey of the paintings throughout the United States, international intrigue, vicious criminals and the law enforcement team that tracked down the paintings and the crooks.

Wyeth family paintings are collected throughout the world, including the famous Helga series. Andrew is the son of N. C. Wyeth and the father of Jamie Wyeth. Recently Andrew Wyeth was featured on American Masters by PBS.

          Barricade Books of Fort Lee, N. J., has authorized a second printing of its just released book Stealing Wyeth by author Bruce E. Mowday.

The book was released last week and all of the copies were distributed.

“The pre-sale of Stealing Wyeth was amazing,” Mowday said. “This is my 20^th book and the quickest the first run printing has been sold. I checked with Barnes & Noble last week and the company doesn’t have any books in its warehouses. Amazon sent out a notice that it can’t ship Stealing Wyeth until “September 6 to October 2.”

The book recounts the theft of 15 famous works of art worth millions of dollars from the estate of Andrew Wyeth. Seven of the paintings were by Andrew Wyeth, six of his son Jamie and the other two by other artists. The book details information about the Wyeth family, the theft, the criminals and the law enforcement team.

“Stealing Wyeth appeals to a number of audiences,” Mowday. “Those who are fans of the Wyeth family and fine art is one group. The second is true crime aficionados. Some of the criminals were members of a gang that were chronicled in my book Jailing the Johnston Gang: Bringing Serial Murderers to Justice.”

In November Mowday has five events scheduled including a talk on Stealing Wyeth at the Harford County Library at 6:30 p.m. on November 20. His other Wyeth talks are on November 14 for the Questers of Chester County and November 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the Mechanicsburg Mystery Book Shop at 1:30 p.m.

Two talks are scheduled on November 9. At 9:30 a.m. he will give a talk on J. Howard Wert’s Gettysburg at the Kennett Square Civil War group at the Kennett YMCA. At 5:00 p.m. Mowday is speaking on Life With Flavor, his book on Jim Herr and Herr’s Foods.

So far in December, Mowday has been scheduled for a J. Howard Wert talk at the Wilmington Civil War Round Table on December 4, a book signing at the Downingtown branch of Citadel Federal Credit Union on December 13 and two book signings at Barnes & Noble, Exton on December 13 and 14.

          The theft of 15 paintings, worth millions of dollars, from the estate of world famous artist Andrew Wyeth is the subject of a true crime book, Stealing Wyeth, to be released on August 5, 2019. The book was written by author Bruce E. Mowday

Delaware politician and lobbyist Robert Byrd

authors book on insider’s view of politics

 WILMINGTON, DE. _ Robert Lee Byrd, a former member of the Delaware House of Representatives and President and Chief Executive Officer of The Byrd Group, LLC, has written Byrd of Legislative Hall, a book on his 40 years as a legislator and lobbyist.

The Mowday Group, Inc. managed the publishing details for Byrd and worked with the book’s publisher, Regent Press of California. Copies of Byrd of Legislative Hall are available with a major book launch on June 12 in Dover. Byrd wrote the book with former Wilmington News Journal reporter Celia Cohen. The cost of the book is $19.95.

Senator Chris Coons, who wrote the book’s foreword, calls Byrd “the most influential lobbyist in the First State.” Coons stated, “In this engaging book, Bobby shares countless stories from his decades of work in the center of politics and policy in our state.”

Mowday listed on Congress website with other national speakers

          DOWNINGTOWN _ Author Bruce E. Mowday has been listed as a “5-Star” speaker on the Civil War by the Civil War Round Table Congress.

Mowday and other national speakers on the Civil War are identified as resources for Civil War Round Tables. Mowday was notified of the selection by Mike Movius of the Civil War Round Table Congress on Sunday.

“The nomination and subsequent listing is quite an honor,” Mowday, the founding vice president of the Brandywine Valley Civil War Round Table, said. “The round tables play an important role in keeping our nation’s heritage and history alive. I’ve spoken at a number of the organizations and always enjoy the interactions with those interested in our history. I thank the Bucks County round table for the nomination.”

Mowday has written three books on the Civil War. They are Pickett’s Charge: The Untold Story published by Barricade Books; J. Howard Wert’s Gettysburg published by Schiffer Publishing and Unlikely Allies: Fort Delaware’s Prison Community in the Civil War.

The Pickett’s charge book is the first one written from the Union perspective on the engagement at Gettysburg. Wert was a spy and scout for General George G. Meade at Gettysburg. The book also details the largest private collection of Gettysburg artifacts, including the podium used by President Abraham Lincoln during his Gettysburg address. The Fort Delaware book was the first history of the Union prisoner of war camp.

A fourth book on the Civil War, Emotional Gettysburg, is pending publication. Mowday’s essays are twinned with original art work by noted artist Karl Kuerner.

Holiday book signing schedule for author Bruce Mowday includes stops in Downingtown, West Chester, Westtown, Historic Sugartown, Kennett Square, Norristown and Exton

Author gives talks on his Gettysburg, Harlan and Herr books

DOWNINGTOWN _ The holiday book signing schedule for author Bruce Mowday includes a number of special events for the Christmas season.

Mowday’s first appearance is Wednesday, November 28 at the West Chester Sunrise rotary at 7:00 a.m. on J. Howard Wert’s Gettysburg. “The book details the largest private collection of artifacts from Gettysburg plus many other important items from America’s history,” Mowday said. “My favorite item is the podium used by Abraham Lincoln during the Gettysburg Address. Schiffer Publishing of Atglen did an excellent job with the publication of the book.”

On Sunday, December 2 Mowday will join other authors for a signing at the Kennett Square Senior Center from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. The center is located at 427 South Walnut Street. Mowday will also give a talk on his books and writing.

Mowday will join Chester County Hospital’s hospitality shop staff for a signing at the hospital on Wednesday, December 5, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The weekend of December 8 and 9 will see Mowday at the Sugartown Christmas at Historic Sugartown from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and then on Sunday he will be at the Westtown Winter Festival at Oarkbourne Park from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

The Downingtown branch of the Citadel Federal Credit Union has scheduled a special signing featuring Mowday’s book on Jim and Mim Herr and Herr’s Foods. The event will take place on Friday, December 14 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Mowday co-authored Life With Flavor.

The retired employees of Lockheed has invited Mowday to talk on his book Eyewitness to the Settlement of the West on Thursday, December 20 at 10:30 a.m. at Norristown

Mowday will also make three appearances at the Exton Barnes & Noble on December 15 and December 22 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and on December 24 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
