          NORWALK _ Stealing Wyeth, a book released by Barricade Books, is now being distributed in the United Kingdom, Europe and throughout the world by Turnaround Publisher Services.

Norwalk author Bruce E. Mowday said, “Stealing Wyeth has had great success since its release late last year. The true crime book tells the wild tale of the theft of 15 paintings from the estate of renown artist Andrew Wyeth, the band of criminals involved in the criminality and the law enforcement team.”

Mowday, who has authored more than 20 books on true crime, history, business and sports, covered the Wyeth case as a newspaper reporter. The theft included the taking of seven paintings by Andrew Wyeth, six by his famous son Jamie and two others. The paintings are worth millions of dollars.

In the coming weeks, Mowday has talks scheduled in four states, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Connecticut.  Besides Stealing Wyeth, Mowday will be giving talks on his other true crime book, Jailing the Johnston Gang: Bringing Serial Murderers to Justice, and his history book, Emotional Gettysburg.

Mowday will be talking at the Norwalk Library, 1 Belden Avenue, on Sunday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. on Emotional Gettysburg and his other Gettysburg books. The book highlights 20 paintings by Karl J. Kuerner, the only artist to be individually taught by Andrew Wyeth and his sister Carolyn. Mowday has written three books on the Civil War battle.

On April 28 at 7:00 p.m., Mowday will give a talk on Stealing Wyeth at the Darien Library, 1441 Post Road.

My third book on Gettysburg – Emotional Gettysburg – was released by Regent Press of California this month. This book redefines Gettysburg, according to one reader. It’s a unique look at Gettysburg in history and today. Renowned artist Karl J. Kuerner, only artist taught by Andrew and Carolyn Wyeth, has created 20 original paintings and I’ve written 20 essays.

I’ve also written Pickett’s Charge: The Untold Story, published by Barricade Books of New Jersey. This book is the first one to concentrate on the Union soldiers that saved the nation on July 3, 1863. My J. Howard Wert’s Gettysburg, published by Schiffer Books of Pennsylvania, describes the largest private collection of artifacts from Gettysburg, including the podium used by Lincoln for the Gettysburg Address. Thousands of important historical items are included in the collection. The book also details the Wert family. Wert was a spy and scout for the Union at Gettysburg.

Three Views of Gettysburg combines the importance of the battle of Gettysburg, especially Pickett’s Charge, along with the artifacts.

            Emotional Gettysburg, a unique look at the historic town of Gettysburg, has just been released by Regent Press of Berkeley, CA.

The book combines today’s rich landscapes with the Pennsylvania town’s Civil War history.

          Author Bruce Mowday will give two talks on his true crime book Stealing Wyeth to begin 2020.

The first talk will be on Tuesday, January 7 before the Oxford Historical Society, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 246 North 3^rd Street. On Wednesday, January 8, Mowday will give a presentation at the Radnor Memorial Library, 114 West Wayne Avenue, Wayne, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

“Stealing Wyeth was released in August by Barricade Books and has been very popular,” Mowday said. “In December the book was ranking in the top 0.3 percent of all books listed on Amazon. The book is already in its fourth printing.”

The Hershey’s Mill television station, West Chester, is also taping a half-hour show on Stealing Wyeth on Tuesday, January 7.

Stealing Wyeth tells the story of the theft of 15 paintings, including seven by famed artist Andrew Wyeth and six more by his son, renowned artist Jamie Wyeth from the Andrew Wyeth estate. The paintings were transported out-of-state and hidden in the ground and in the back of old cars to avoid being discovered.

“The book details the Wyeth family, the criminals and the law enforcement team that brought the criminals to justice,” Mowday said. “Large crowds have attended talks and signings, including one last month with Jamie Wyeth at the Farnsworth Museum in Maine.”

Mowday has a talk scheduled on his book J. Howard Wert’s Gettysburg on Saturday, January 18 at noon before the Connecticut Civil War Round Table at the Torrington Library. The Wert book details the largest private collection of artifacts from Gettysburg and the Wert family. J. Howard Wert was a spy and scout for the Union during Gettysburg.

Mowday will also have copies of his newly-released book, Emotional Gettysburg. The book features original art work by Karl J. Kuerner, the only painter taught by Andrew and Carolyn Wyeth, and essays by Mowday. “This is a unique book on Gettysburg,” Mowday said. “The historical and emotional aspects of Gettysburg are tied to Gettysburg today.”

          Pennsylvania Books will feature author Bruce E. Mowday and his new book Stealing Wyeth on Pennsylvania Cable Network on Sunday, December 8 at 7:00 p.m.

“Brian Lockman is a great interviewer and I enjoyed the hour, the time passed very quickly,” Mowday said of the show. “Brian covered the theft of 15 paintings from the estate of Andrew Wyeth, the Wyeth family, the criminals and the law enforcement team that recovered the priceless paintings.”

Mowday has been featured on a number of other PCN episodes of Pennsylvania Books and history shows. The Stealing Wyeth show will be rebroadcast on PCN at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9.

The Delaware County Bar Association, Media, is hosting a program on Stealing Wyeth with Mowday and attorney Carmen P. Belefonte.  The CLE seminar is titled The Art of Serving Justice and begins at 2:15 p.m. A book signing and reception will follow the seminar.

On Friday, December 6, Mowday will be signing books at the Moravian Book Shop, 428 Main Street, Bethlehem, beginning at 5:30 p.m. He will have two signings at the Barnes & Noble, Exton. On December 13 he will be there from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. And on December 14 he will be at B&N from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

On December 13 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Mowday will be signing books at the Downingtown branch of Citadel Federal Credit Union, 1246 Cornerstone Blvd.

Mowday kicks off his busy month with a talk and signing of his book J. Howard Wert’s Gettysburg before the Wilmington Civil War Round Table at the Greene Turtle, 307 Rocky Run Parkway.

Advance copies of Mowday’s new book, Emotional Gettysburg, will be available in early December. The book is to be released by Regent Publishing in January. Mowday did essays to accompany original paintings by Chadds Ford artist Karl J. Kuerner.  The book showcases Gettysburg today with the town’s history.

            WEST CHESTER _ Author Bruce Mowday is scheduled to be interviewed by Pennsylvania Cable Network on his new book, Stealing Wyeth. 

          “I’m honored that PCN has selected my book to be featured on its excellent Pennsylvania Authors show,” Mowday said. “We’re taping the show later this month and I’m told the show is scheduled for airing in December. Stealing Wyeth is a perfect book to feature since PCN previously did a show on my other true crime book, Jailing the Johnston Gang. The two books are connected.”

Stealing Wyeth was released in August by Barricade Books and already is in its third printing. The book details the theft of 15 paintings from the Chadds Ford estate of famed artist Andrew Wyeth and the law enforcement efforts to recover those paintings.

           NORWALK _ Norwalk Library’s 3^rd annual Indie Author on Saturday, October 12 will include Norwalk’s Bruce Mowday, author of 20 published books.

“I’m looking forward to getting a chance to meet those who love reading and writing books in the Norwalk area,” Mowday said. “I’ve only been in the area a few months and I’ve already met many fine people. I enjoyed my talk on Stealing Wyeth at the library in August. The library is a great asset to the public.”

The event at 1 Belden Avenue will take place from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. More than 60 writers and publishing professionals took part in last year’s event.

“During the day, I’d be more than glad to talk about my publishing career and my Selling Your Book, one of my publishers asked me to author the book to help increase sales,” Mowday said.

Author Bruce E. Mowday has events scheduled

in Chadds Ford, Phoenixville and West Chester

New book Stealing Wyeth featured plus talk in Coatesville schools

 Author Bruce Mowday has scheduled five events in Chester County this month, including three talks in connection with his new book, Stealing Wyeth.

“My new book has received great interest,” Mowday said. “So much attention that the first printing was sold out at the time of the official release in August. Publisher Barricade Books has authorized a second printing, to be delivered this week.”

After a private event at the Brandywine River Museum, Chadds Ford, on Friday, September 13, Mowday will be signing books on Sunday, September 15 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Chadds Ford Days at the Chadds Ford Historical Society.

Chadds Ford Days is held on the battlefield of the Revolutionary War engagement at Brandywine. Mowday will have his book September 11, 1777: Washington’s Defeat at Brandywine Dooms Philadelphia – the first in-depth book on the battle – available for purchase.

On Monday, September 16, Mowday will talk before several classes of students at Coatesville Intermediate High School before giving a talk on Stealing Wyeth at 7:00 p.m. at Phoenixville Library.

The Chester County Historical Society, West Chester, is hosting a talk by Mowday on Stealing Wyeth on Tuesday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m.

The theft of 15 paintings, worth millions of dollars, from the estate of world famous artist Andrew Wyeth is the subject of a true crime book, Stealing Wyeth. The book has connections to Mowday’s first true crime book, Jailing the Johnston Gang: Bringing Serial Murderers to Justice, also published by Barricade Books. “The Johnston book is now being reprinted,” Mowday noted. Both hard-bound editions of the Johnston book have sold out as has numerous reprinting of the paperback version.

“Stealing Wyeth is a drama on several levels, a page-turning true crime story,” according to former Assistant U. S. Attorney Walter ‘Terry’ Batty, who prosecuted the case. Former FBI agent David Richter added, “Stealing Wyeth proves it doesn’t get any better for the public when law enforcement agencies work together.”

Mowday said, “Andrew and Jamie Wyeth are two of the best-known American painters of all time. I’m not surprised that thieves and forgers have targeted their wonderful artistic creations over the years. I’m also not surprised that readers, those who know the Wyeth paintings and those who enjoy true crime books, are interested in the book.”

Mowday, who has authored 20 books on true crime, history, business and sports, was a newspaper reporter and covered the case. Thieves, including master cat burglar William Porter who admitted committing 1,500 crimes, broke into the Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania estate of Andrew Wyeth in the hopes of stealing a Wyeth painting for their retirement fund. The thieves took 15 paintings, seven by Andrew Wyeth, six by Jamie Wyeth and two other artists.

The book details the journey of the paintings throughout the United States, international intrigue, vicious criminals and the law enforcement team that tracked down the paintings and the crooks.

Wyeth family paintings are collected throughout the world, including the famous Helga series. Andrew is the son of N. C. Wyeth and the father of Jamie Wyeth. Recently Andrew Wyeth was featured on American Masters by PBS.

          Barricade Books of Fort Lee, N. J., has authorized a second printing of its just released book Stealing Wyeth by author Bruce E. Mowday.

The book was released last week and all of the copies were distributed.

“The pre-sale of Stealing Wyeth was amazing,” Mowday said. “This is my 20^th book and the quickest the first run printing has been sold. I checked with Barnes & Noble last week and the company doesn’t have any books in its warehouses. Amazon sent out a notice that it can’t ship Stealing Wyeth until “September 6 to October 2.”

The book recounts the theft of 15 famous works of art worth millions of dollars from the estate of Andrew Wyeth. Seven of the paintings were by Andrew Wyeth, six of his son Jamie and the other two by other artists. The book details information about the Wyeth family, the theft, the criminals and the law enforcement team.

“Stealing Wyeth appeals to a number of audiences,” Mowday. “Those who are fans of the Wyeth family and fine art is one group. The second is true crime aficionados. Some of the criminals were members of a gang that were chronicled in my book Jailing the Johnston Gang: Bringing Serial Murderers to Justice.”
